GenealogiaSureste 411 Mormon church plans genealogy tribute, concert, workshops


SALT LAKE CITY — President Henry B. Eyring of the LDS Church First Presidency, author David McCullough, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square will participate in a tribute to family history on April 29.

The event, "A Celebration of Family History," will be at the LDS Conference Center starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online beginning March 23 at LDS.org/events.

In addition to the multimedia tribute and mini-concert, four genealogy conferences will take place in Utah during the week of April 26, including the National Genealogical Society's annual conference. The national conference returns to Salt Lake City for the second time in 25 years.

Other events include BYU's Conference on Computerized Family History and Genealogy, BYU's Family History Technology Workshop and FamilySearch's Developers Conference for software developers.

Family history consultant training seminar, April 27, 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m., Conference Center Little Theater (open admission, limited seating).

Family history consultant fireside, Elder Allan F. Packer, April 27, 7 p.m., Salt Lake Tabernacle (open admission, limited seating)

Church History Library open house, April 28, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., 15 E. North Temple

FamilySearch and genealogy technology exhibit hall, April 28-May 1, Salt Palace Convention Center (open admission)

Genealogy Kids Camp, grades 4 through 12, May 1, 9 a.m.-noon, Salt Palace Convention Center (register at NGSGenealogy.org)

Free research consultation and extended hours (until 11 p.m.) at the Family History Library.
